Vatican offers futuristic metalcore with new song “Decemeta” (watch video)

Metalcore band Savannah Vatican recently signed with UNFD and released the two song single Become a new god, and we’re now releasing a third new single from the band, “Decemeta”. It’s a rager of less than two minutes, and like the previous two songs, it fuses overwhelming 90s / 00s metalcore with futuristic electronics. It is also accompanied by an animated video (by Beyond Sahaj) which depicts a city on fire and clearly takes some influence from the video games of the 80s and Transformers.

“This song is about how we as a people like to see others fail,” singer Mike Sugars tells us. “There are a lot of times when it might be better for that person to go away, but we’re always looking to see who’s next and always looking for the cracks in someone’s frame. To be honest, though. , regarding the name of the song, I wanted to name it by the way the song makes me feel. I thought the song sounded like a battle montage and landed on something like “Decimation” or something not great like That. Then I got inspired by NieR: Automata and Metal Gear Rising and the decimation combined with the ‘mata’ thing. I just thought it looked cool. “

Commenting on the video, drummer Josian Omar Soto-Ramos adds, “The music video for ‘Decemeta’ was created when my friend Beyond Sahaj and I teamed up to create a simple 3D model of the VR unit. song that we were going to release and tie it to the song. The first thing that came to my mind was a visualizer of it fighting enemies in a PlayStation 1 inspired style with lots of explosions and thefts. Specifically, the Armored Core series immediately sprung to mind for this and made sense with the song’s abrasive backdrop. Sahaj was super happy with the idea and we started to exchange ideas. It was a lot of fun to make that idea come true and it’s thanks to him for doing a great job. Video game-inspired visuals aren’t something I have to think so hard about when I apply them in the Vatican, it’s just a natural thing the band love to do and I’m thankful that others think it’s cool. too. “

The Vatican is currently busy tearing it up on tour with SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Greyhaven and Wristmeetrazor. Read our review of the New York show and check out the list of remaining tour dates, along with the new video, below.
