One of the suspects in the 2020 Christmas season burglary of the Top Shelf Tobacco store will be in court today to enter his pleas.
Court documents say Jacob Alan Lawson of Blairsville is facing counts of burglary and criminal trespassing, as well as misdemeanor theft, possession of an instrumentality of crime and criminal mischief in tampering with property for the December 24 incident.and of 2020. At the time, police said the alarm at the store on the 800 block of Wayne Avenue went off around 5:50 a.m. When officers arrived no one was there but a window was found opened. A second alarm went off an hour later. The store owner gave police surveillance video showing Lawson and his co-conspirator, 21-year-old Indiana Bailey Charles Edwards, in the store carrying out the robbery. The two men were found in the area and taken into custody.
Edwards pleaded guilty in July of last year to a burglary charge and was sentenced to one month to one day less than two years in Indiana County Jail and two years probation.
Also entering pleas today in Indiana County Court:
- John Naugle of Homer City, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia as well as summary harassment for an incident that occurred on February 28and of 2021.
- Maddee Tribune of Philadelphia, who is charged with theft, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and harassment for an incident that occurred on May 6and of 2019.
