It goes without saying that many communities, namely the black community, are very suspicious of cops, in part because of their wrongful arrests and murders over the past decade. While hope for change in this regard is all but lost, people also fear speaking out and potentially becoming the next person we mourn. Fortunately, Styles P is not one of those people. Yesterday, a video of a member of The LOX spewing profanity at cops aggressively handling a woman outside his juice bar, Juices For Life, surfaced on TikTok.
Styles can be heard calling one of the cops a “f****** hoe”, encouraging the woman to relax lest she get hurt, and calling another cop a “f****** hoe”. As one of the officers approached the rapper, he assured the cop that he would back off and not touch him. “You slapped a girl! For no reason,” he said and even pointed out that one of the cops was reaching for his gun as they tried to arrest the woman. Fortunately, the situation did not escalate into anything further.
When TikTok went viral, Styles P then took to his Instagram to address the situation. He admitted he was hot-headed but did not apologize to the cops for their use of force, particularly against a woman. “I don’t hate cops, I hate mistreatment of the poor,” Styles said. “I hate the mistreatment of poor black people. I hate the mistreatment of poor Spaniards. Even the poor white people in the neighborhood, I hate how easy it is to throw cops around the neighborhood who will get a benefit, a paycheck with a bunch of people they have no idea how it works.
He even broadened the issue to the system as a whole, saying he didn’t want to see cops lose their jobs. Styles P is just one of many to acknowledge the flawed justice system, and while his influence may not be enough to change things anytime soon, he has at least held his ground outside his establishment. beloved.
