MONTGOMERY, NJ – Hear music while you shop and want to tip the artists? Think twice, tell the police.
Police are warning residents of an unusual scam involving violinists performing in the parking lot of a shopping mall.
Recently, Montgomery Township Police said they responded to several reports of people playing violins in the parking lot at the Montgomery Mall.

âIn these cases, the person would be asking for money while playing, however, the violin music is actually played through a Bluetooth speaker from a nearby cell phone,â police said.
The people who carried out the scam were also found to be from out of state, police said.
