So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review a handful of new albums (from all genres), round up even more new music we’d call “indie” and talk about what metal comes out. We post music news, track premieres and more all day. We are updating a weekly playlist of some of our current favorite tracks. Here is a daily summary with a bunch of interesting and recently released songs in one place.

WAYS AWAY – “NEVERMIND THE DOG”

Not only does Stick To Your Guns have a new album on the way, but singer Jesse Barnett also has a new single with his band Ways Away, which features members of Samiam, The Hope Conspiracy and more, and emo/post- hardcore.

PILE CAT – “DANCE OF THE WICKED PUPPETS”

We are one week away from receiving the long-awaited debut album from Chat Pile God’s country, and in the meantime, here is a third single, “Wicket Puppet Dance”. It’s another gnarly melting pot of sludge, noise rock and post-hardcore.

ITHACA – “THE FUTURE SAY THANK YOU”

The long-awaited new album of the British group Ithaca They fear us finally arrives next week (07/29), and the new single “The Future Says Thank You” oscillates between chaotic mathcore and stripped-down melodies. “This song is about putting yourself out there and getting out of a deeply toxic environment,” the band explains. “It’s the most technically challenging song we’ve ever written – the constant changes and relentless rhythm are designed to keep you feeling trapped until the end where hope breaks through. There’s light at the end of where you are.”

MONICA – “FRIENDS” (ft. TY DOLLA $IGN)

R&B veteran Monica is preparing to release her ninth album Trenches this fall via his own MonDeenise Music Inc imprint, and it will include this Ty Dolla $ign assisted guitar ballad.

BAD BOY CHILLER CREW – “WHEN IT RAINS, IT RAINS”

having freed Disrespectful earlier this year and with their first US dates looming, British hip-hop group Bad Boy Chiller Crew shared this new single on a streak of bad luck. The video is a blast, too.

POLYPHONIC VIGOR – “SETTING THE SOUL”

Tim Delaughter is back with the first new music from psychedelic rock choir The Polyphonic Spree since 2014 (not counting last year’s covers album Affatus). “Got Down to the Soul” is softer than most of the anthemic TPS joybombs, but it’s pretty charming. It’s always better to live, though.

MUSE – “KILL OR BE KILLED”

Rock trio Bombastic Muse have shared another single from their upcoming album will of the people. “‘Kill Or Be Killed’ is Muse at its best,” exclaims frontman Matt Bellamy. and even a growl of death. Lyrically the song is inspired by my favorite Paul McCartney song “Live And Let Die”, a dark take on how life’s adversity can sometimes bring out the worst human instincts of survival at all costs . As usual, the video is just as over the top as the music.

JULIANNA RIOLINO – “YOU”

Toronto artist Julianna Riolinio (who also stars in Daniel Romano’s The Outfit) has announced a new album, all bluedue October 14 via You’ve Changed Records, and lead single “You” is a dose of catchy, propulsive, folky indie rock.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX – “EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL BUT US”

Crippled Black Phoenix’s new album Blightfire drops September 9 via Season of Mist, and new single “Everything Is Beautiful But Us” is a searing, high-octane blend of dreamy pop and post-metal.

BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH – “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” (FEAT. ASHLEIGH BALL) / “BEYOND FOUR WALLS”

Canadian band Bedouin Soundclash have announced new album We Will Meet in a Hurricane which will be released on October 21 via Dine Alone. “There wasn’t a lot of discussion beforehand about limiting things in terms of instrumentation, but I think the way it went was really nice for us – really powerful sound basically coming from the guitar, bass and drums,” says Jay Malinowski. Check out a taste of this two-track single.

CORNELIUS – “CHANGE AND DISAPPEAR”

“Change and Vanish” is shiny and glitchy and features vocals by mei ehara. Typical of Cornelius, the video is very stylish.

ROBYN HITCHCOCK – “THE SHUFFLE MAN”

“The Shuffle Man is the imp of change”, says Robyn Hitchcock, “the agent of fortune. He throws the cards up and lets you manage where they fall. He is the exaltation of chaos – with hands rapids and a stove hat. New album Shufflemania! comes out in October.

KEVIN MORBY AND WAXAHATCHEE – “THE GOLDHEART MOUNTAINTOP QUEEN DIRECTORY” (GUIDE BY VOICES COVER) AND “TEARS IN THE TYPING POOL” (BROADCAST COVER)

Kevin Morby and Waxahatchee (Katie Crutchfield) recorded a pair of covers — guided by Voices’ “The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory” and Broadcast’s “Tears in the Typing Pool” — via Bandcamp. All proceeds will be donated to the Vote No Kansas PAC, whose mission is to encourage people to vote no to the “Value Them Both” anti-abortion amendment (HCR 5003).

SUN RA ARKESTRA – “SOMEBODY ELSE’S IDEA”

“‘Somebody Else’s Idea’ is an affirmation that the world I live in is a world I can change,” says baritone saxophonist Knoel Scott. “The first part of change is not accepting the status, the so-called status quo, by rejecting the status quo, I free myself from the possibilities that go into infinity. This is our desire. There are those who listen to our music that also embrace the possibilities that go beyond the bounds of the impossible Sun Ra’s new album Arkestra, living skycomes out in October.
