For the past four months, Artie Sutherland has been delivering fresh seafood to the Starkville area.

Less than a month ago, he officially opened The Blind Tiger Butcher Shop and Seafood Express at 332 Hwy 12.

Customers can choose from a selection of premium meats and fresh gulf shrimp, crayfish, crab, oysters and more Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. TBT is closed on Thursdays so Sutherland can come to shore and restock.

“We are delighted to be in Starkville,” said the former Mississippi State. “The support has been unreal quite honestly. We hope to continue to be a Starkville store. We want to be a people’s store and make sure we grow with what everyone wants. “

Over time, Sutherland said he hopes to expand his business by offering lunch and dinner plates and possibly delivery.

Owner Nicole Huff is very excited about the new bakery business. In August, Southern Flour will move from Kroger Plaza to the old Yo ‘Bar at 1902-2 Hwy. 45.

Huff goes from a 1,200 square foot bakery to approximately 3,600 square feet.

“We plan to expand the menu and hope to add another chef,” Huff said. “… We’re going to have a cake decorating room with a window where people can watch us decorate cakes. “

Huff hopes to add a cafe-esque menu with sandwiches, soups, salads and more. The new Southern Flour will also include a party room where Huff hopes to host cake and cookie decorating classes for private parties.

Huff is also looking to hire more employees, including cake decorators, bakers, and front desk workers.

For Huff, leaving her business home for the past few years has been difficult, but she has been able to see the bright side as she takes her next steps.

“I always wanted a bigger place,” Huff said. “At first I was upset that I had to move out of (Kroger Plaza), but God is fixing everything. He constantly helps me. Just when I think it’s a dead end, it’s not the dead end I thought it was.
